So you collect stuffed animals. Maybe you have a few dozen teddy bears and a few dozen more of other stuffed animals. You know how easily they collect dust. The fact that little girls and boys love to hug them makes you cringe at the possibility of their contracting illness from foreign bodies that live under the thick cuddly fur. Stuffed toys need to be cleaned and there is more than one way to do it.

Your best bet will be to bring it to the drycleaners. Yes, that can be expensive and not too practical if you have dozens of them. So learn how to do it yourself and save a few bucks. Here are some sound steps to do it yourself: ~Take the bow off if possible because the color may run. If the bow doesn’t come off, wet it a bit then squeeze the water out on a light surface and see if there is any color in the water. ~Hand wash the bear in the bathtub or put it in a pillowcase then on the gentle cycle in the washing machine. ~Hang it or use the coolest setting on the dryer. High heat may melt the fur and it will not look fluffy anymore. ~Brush the fur with a comb to fluff it back up again.
