Christmas season is here. If you are still looking to get a gift for a child, go with the classic gift, the teddy bear. Everybody will appreciate the teddy bear. It doesn’t matter how many bears they have at home, people still appreciate it. It’s hard to think that the teddy bear came from the mercy killing of an injured baby bear.

Teddy bears trace their roots to one of the great American presidents, Theodore Roosevelt. He is responsible for giving the teddy bear its name. Back in November 1902 Roosevelt was bear hunting. In that expedition he came across an injured baby bear. He ordered the mercy killing of the bear. Soon after that hunting expedition, an editorial was made depicting him with a bear. Within a year of this drawing, the teddy bear was born. Soon afterwards teddy bears became commonplace in homes and popular as gifts.
