In longboard equipment, the trucks are the mounts where the wheels are attached to the board. It consists of a base plate which screws to the deck and a hanger which holds the axle, which in turn holds the wheels. Longboard trucks are made differently for specific purposes; however, there are also multipurpose trucks. They are chosen based on their turning angles brought about by their length and width. It is always safer to choose the right trucks for the intended use.

Talking of safety, the first thing to learn in longboarding is how to footbrake. Start practicing on flat asphalt or concrete. You will realize that the faster you go, the harder it will be to brake. Practice until you can do it on one foot. By the way, always remember to have a helmet on while longboarding.
