Trying to learn to skateboard can be difficult. Before you can even start to ride, you will have to make many decisions and this will involve the equipment that you will need. Buying the right skateboard and equipment can be pretty confusing – there’s so much to choose from. You will have to select between buying a complete skateboard and assembling one. It is better to build your own skateboard because then you can choose the best parts.
Skateboard accessories and parts are available in sporting stores. You might find that buying a complete skateboard is more convenient. When you do, take note of some things to consider. Take a look at the wheels on the skateboard. Skateboard wheels should be made of urethane, not plastic or rubber. Plastic wheels won’t grip the ground, and you will slide out of control. Rubber wheels will rip apart. The trucks are the “axles” of the skateboard. These should be made of a fairly sturdy metal. You also want to make sure that the deck is made from layers of wood pressed together, and that the edges are rounded and well treated.
