It is common for us to read about very young children being exposed to traumatic experiences that often results to distress. In an effort to minimize negative effects on their mental health, these children are made to undergo psychotherapy. Treating children is specially challenging to therapists. However there are special tools that they can use in their diagnosis. One of this is play therapy.

Play therapy is a tool by which the therapist observes a child patient playing with toys. They are given play houses, dolls, pets and other toys. By observing how the child plays with the toys, they try to determine the cause of disturbed behavior. Sandtray miniatures may also be used in the therapy process. Sand tray miniatures are available in many different sets. The therapist will let the child play with a set that he thinks will help diagnose the problem.
