Doll houses are popular among children. They are popular not only among girls but for a few boys as well. Because they are made mostly of pre-cut plywood they may be classified as wooden toys. Wooden toys are made to withstand years of use. Some are handed down through generations. This can happen only if they are given the kind of care that they deserve.

Doll houses usually have painted finish. We have to make sure that the paints used are non-toxic paints that are harmless to children. Doll houses should be kept indoors. The worst enemy of wood is water. If we want to make our dollhouses last for years, they should be kept away from water. Direct sun can also damage the material; it can dry out and be prone to cracking and splitting.

Raising a child can be a difficult. Unfortunately, children do not come with instruction booklets, so we have to figure things out on a day-to-day basis. A lot of people do not realize the role that animal puppets can play in a child’s life. Hand puppets have been enticing children for as long as we can all remember.

A small child’s face will light up when they see a hand puppet talking to them as they believe that magic is happening. This is a great tool for parents to use to help their children learn valuable lessons. A child will be more apt to sit and listen to a puppet has to say, versus what a parent has to say, since the puppet is more down on the child’s level of thinking than the parents, or at least that is what the child believes.

Weekend Family Getaways

A cousin of mine has a farm in the countryside. She and her husband keep small farm animals there to complement the farm-house type weekend getaway home they built on one end of the huge property. My kids always love visiting their aunt because they get to play with baby lambs and even chase chickens inside a big pen.

One nice feature of the farm is the big field behind the house. We go on picnics there and sometimes set up tents to go camping. The boys could fly remote control airplanes without the fear of hitting somebody accidentally. Even the dogs love the freedom that the wide open space offers.

Fly Like a Bird

Ever since I can remember I wanted to fly. My favorite super heroes are the ones that can fly the fastest. I would always dream of having my own flying horse or a flying dragon. My favorite toys are radio controlled airplanes. I got my first one at ten years old.

Radio controlled airplanes shaped my life. When I was old enough I went to the Air Force to become a pilot. Now, I am a commercial pilot. I have the best job in the world. I don’t even consider it a job. To me, I’m still ten and playing with my toy planes. What a life I have!

Entertaining Puppet Show

My daughter was invited to a birthday party at her classmate’s house. She was very excited to go because she heard there would be a puppet show there. When we arrived, the first thing that caught her attention was the big puppet theater at one corner of the big backyard. I noticed that all the kids seem to be drawn to it.

It took some convincing to get the kids to eat first before watching the show. My daughter ate her food fast while talking nonstop to her friends. As soon as the puppet show was announced, all the little ones excitedly pulled their chairs toward the puppet theater. The performers were really good! Now my daughter wants to have the same thing on her birthday three months from now.

Many people ask me how to play beer pong after they hear about it for the first time, from me. I usually give them the basics but assure them that it’s actually more fun if you come up with your own beer pong rules. Anyway, here are things that beginners should know:

The size of the cups used is usually sixteen ounce solo or Dixie cups. Fill them with beer or water about a fourth way up.
Use ping pong balls to shoot because they are just the right weight for the game.
To do the beer pong cup rack, you just have to organize the cups in a triangle formation with the end of the triangle pointing towards the other team. Cup rims should touch each other.
Flip a quarter and see who goes first.
