building blocks

Toy catalogs will list playthings for the toddler, the school age child or the teenager. The toddler will enjoy playing with building blocks, puzzles or coloring books. The bright colors will interest the child. Their many shapes and colors help develop hand and eye coordination while feeding the brain with new things. Always remember to check for pointed or removable parts that can be harmful.

The older child will appreciate toys that they can put together. They will specially be challenged by assembled toys that move. When buying toys for assembly, make sure that it will not require complicated tools and that the instructions are simple enough for the age of the child. Read the instructions carefully and discuss with the child before beginning to work. That is one way to avoid disappointments.
