There are a number of different options when it comes to kids’ bedroom storage. Many companies manufacture attractive organizers with removable bins. You can also find a toy chest on wheels which actually doubles as a toy cart. Aside from books, bookcases can also be utilized to store large toys. Closets also offer a number of opportunities for kids’ bedroom storage, and many types of bedroom furniture can now be found with built-in storage space.

Toy chests or toy boxes are still the most traditional forms of kids’ bedroom storage. These can be as simple as a large bin, or as complex as an ornate wooden chest with a hinged lid. It is not advisable to choose toy chests with hinged lids, especially for smaller children. A large open bin will be as effective and will definitely prove to be much safer to use. If you really want a toy chest with a hinged lid for your kids’ bedroom storage, there are slow-closing hinges specifically designed to be used for younger children.

Providing proper storage in a child’s room will help develop in the child the habit of cleaning up after play. Children have the tendency to keep pulling out toys from toy chests. They want to be surrounded by their favorite stuffed toys and various other toys. Their span of attention is limited. They will give up playing with a stuffed doll if his attention is caught by another toy lying around.

This is not necessarily bad. It actually instills in the child different interests. However, it is a good thing to start teaching them early enough that they should put back their toys in their toy chests or in other storage facilities. Not only will it keep the room uncluttered. It will also develop the child’s memory skills by forcing him to remember where things are kept.

If you have children at home then you probably feel like sometimes a tornado landed in your house. The kids’ room is sometimes the center of chaos in any house. Toys, books and clothes are strewed all over making walking difficult. The solution to this is to have a kids toy storage area. This will make it so much easier to for kids and parents to keep the toys tucked away when not in use.

Kids toy storage area could be anything; a box, a closet or even a basket. A storage area should be big enough to house kids’ growing toy collection. Keep in mind that kids’ toys come in all shapes, sizes and materials. The toy storage box must also be sturdy since kids tend to throw their toys inside them. There are plenty of storage boxes, closets and bins available in the market today.

If you teach your child to keep their things after playing with them, you will never have to scold or nag them to keep their room clean. Turn these chores into a fun game and children will actually enjoy doing them. Even very young children can be tricked into cleaning up if you introduce games such as trying to shoot them into a container or counting as they pick up the toys. If this is done consistently, it will become a habit. In due time, the child will do it even without being told.

Having shelves for books and containers for toy cars and Lego’s will ensure that everything is in place. A wooden toy chest can be a catch-all for stuffed toys and other playthings. Choose a contemporary design that will blend with the other furniture in the room. One with a sturdy flat top cover can be used as a play table or a sitting area. Choose a design with a finger safe close lid.

I used to have a hard time teaching my kids to pick up their toys when they were done playing. Then I asked other mothers at the kindergarten for their tips and tricks. Let me share some of them:

1.	Invest in a toy chest that has their favorite characters on them. They will be more interested in putting their toys in their proper places. 2.	Make it a game. Play some music and tell them that after the song is done, the toys have to be in the toy box. 3.	Give them a reward. Let them choose what kind of dessert they want if everything is left spic and span in the playroom. 4.	Take out only a few toys at a time. Don’t let them pour out all the contents of the play box. Let them choose only 2 or 3 toys at a time. 5.	Let them watch educational videos or read books on the topic. There are many videos and books that tell about why it is important to clean up your toys.
