electric model airplane

Wednesday, March 4th, 2009

There’s nothing more satisfying than having a hobby that you’re passionate about. I recently started getting into the whole remote control airplane thing. It all started when my wife gave me an electric model airplane for my birthday. I put it together because I wanted to see how it would look but when I started flying it, I was hooked. Since then, I’ve collected a few more airplanes.

When buying your first electric model airplane, remember the following guidelines:

~ Since you’re a beginner, choose an RTF or ready to fly model. It only requires minimal assembly.
~ Go to hobby forums and look for what the experts recommend.
~ Choose a model that can easily be customized if you ever feel like upgrading.~ Check with your hobby store salesclerk for the best beginner model.
~Start with the lower priced models; see how you like the hobby first before you move on to the higher priced models.

It’s the naughty air craft that lorded it over the skies during World War II. The P-40 it was called, and it was made famous by the Flying Tigers’ emblem on the plane. The famous shark face design it had is even carried over into the P-40 Warhawk model airplane that collectors own.

It had served many an air force troops from 1938 until it was decommissioned in Brazil sometime in the late 1950s. Its legendary exploits during the war were the stuff that made movies, books, and even a stage play. Such is the appeal of the mighty P-40.

Navy model planes

I was stationed in Hawaii with the US Navy for several years. Those were what I would consider my glory days. I learned a lot of life lessons while I was with the military. One of them was discipline. I think a lot of young men and women today would benefit from a little disciplinary training from the military. A lot of them do not know the meaning of respect and hard work.

I loved the brotherhood and camaraderie that developed between me and the rest of the crew while I was in Hawaii. We really became a model troop because of teamwork. We usually hold reunions about this time of the year, and I was very happy to go, and we all got Navy model planes as giveaways. That is one of the best ideas they had in years!

If you want to re-modify your interior decoration to an aviator motif, a collection of handcrafted model planes will surely amaze you guests.
